Showsec recently celebrated the UK’s pop-punk and rock scene at Slam Dunk North.

Ben Ray, founder and Director of Slam Dunk Festival, first contracted Showsec 10 years ago and 2019 saw the festival move to a brand new site at Temple Newsam Park where Showsec provided crowd management and security services for over 25,000 attendees during the one-day event this May.

Showsec checked wristbands and completed search procedures on ingress, presented pit support, offered customer service assistance, provided security in the VIP/artist areas and were first-response for any incidents.

As the first greenfield site for Slam Dunk North, Showsec adapted to the new environment with a flexible approach to meet the client’s needs. With nine stages in total across the park, the event was unique in layout and design as tents split large stages in half to create two stages within each.

Showsec also worked at the legendary Slam Dunk afterparty from 10pm until 3am at Leeds University Union.

Sam Hodkin, Head of Security for Slam Dunk North says “Showsec has worked with Slam Dunk since it was based at Leeds University Union, before it moved into the City Centre in 2015. This year was another opportunity to benefit from the growth of the festival, deploying over 250 staff for the Northern leg of Slam Dunk Festival 2019 at Temple Newsam Park.

“The event was a resounding success and it is great to see the Leeds area attracting greater live music.’
