Showsec Delivers Events for Broadwick Live

Showsec recently provided security and crowd management services to a number of different festivals across the UK that are part of the Broadwick Live group. The festivals include the Y-Not in Derbyshire, Field Day in London, Truck Festival in Oxford and the Rewind Festival in Perth. Showsec are also acting as consultants to the other Rewind Festivals in Henley-on Thames and Cheshire, ensuring all security is delivered according to best practices.

The agreement to provide security for these events comes as part of a new contract Showsec signed with the Broadwick Live group this year. The partnership is a natural fit for Showsec, as both organisations share a commitment to corporate social responsibility. Broadwick Live group is a member of the Festival Safe initiative, as a well as a follower of the AIF Drastic on Plastic campaign which aims to curb plastic use and waste at live events.

The Truck Festival in Oxfordshire this July was a particularly notable one, with Showsec having the honour of delivering security and crowd management services for the twentieth anniversary of the festival. With a stellar line-up, including George Ezra, Jake Bugg and De La Soul, the festival was a huge success.

As Andrew Edwards, Area manager for South Central and the person in charge of operations at Truck Festival explains: “This was a full security and crowd management operation for us, with entrances, pit and front and back of house covered. As it was the first time for Showsec at the site, there were a lot of things to initially think about. The whole weekend went really well, and the staff interacted very positively and professionally with the festival-going public. Everybody is very much looking forward to next year’s festival”.

Another event Showsec covered for Broadwick Live was the Y-Not festival in Derbyshire. Staff travelled from Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield and Birmingham for the festival, and Showsec were able to benefit from the good partnership they have developed with Derbyshire police at the event.

“This was a really great event and we are extremely proud with how much of a success it turned out to be,” Area Manager for Leeds Sam Hodkin explains, “Staff had to overcome the challenge of adverse weather, but they all pulled together to deliver a fantastic end result. We are very excited to do the event next year.”

There were other new challenges for Showsec at the Rewind Festival in Scotland. The event, which celebrates music from the 1980’s, was a first time for Showsec and necessitated putting new security structures in place. As Thomas Bailey, the Regional Manager in charge of the festival explains, “We rolled out a new strategic plan for the event. Everything went really well, and the feedback we have received so far from the public has been excellent.”

Field Day was another high-profile Broadwick live event Showsec were involved in this summer. This was the first year for Showsec at the event, which was being held at a brand new location at Brockwell Park. As Paul Legge, Regional Manager for London explains, “This was a brand new location for a well-established festival, so it was initially a challenge to prepare everything. However, the event went really well and staff on the ground liaised with the public exceptionally well.”

With so many successful and exciting Broadwick Live events this summer, Showsec looks forward to continuing this.
