Earlier this year, an extension of the contract to provide security and crowd management services to Leeds City Council was given for an additional two years.

The council are very active in holding events for the city and within the first few months of the contract extension, Showsec were involved in family friendly screenings of the World Cup followed by the popular annual Summer Series in Millennium Square which this year included live music performances from Plan B and Bananarama.

The agreement sees Showsec providing security all year round. From the hot summer days, the autumn drew in with bonfire night at both Roundhay Park and Middleton Park, leading on to the Christkindelmarkt Christmas markets throughout November and December, where we also worked alongside the Council and Millennium Square as part of the West Yorkshire Polices’ Project Servator, designed to keep visitors safe and deter all levels of criminality.

Sam Hodkin, Area Manager for Leeds, explains, “The contract with Leeds City Council is a great partnership to have. It provides work all year round – giving sustainable employment opportunities to the people of Leeds. With work at Leeds Town Hall and Millennium Square in the heart of the city, it allows us to bring our exceptional customer services skills to the people of Leeds.”

Showsec looks forward to continuing this successful contract in the coming two years, helping to bring employment opportunities and growth to the city of Leeds.
